City Foiling offers a unique way to explore cities. Hamburg is ideal for this with its numerous bridges and winding canals that run through the city center, parks, and magnificent villas.
Benjamin May’s City Foiling Tour
Benjamin May, the current German Freestyle Wingfoiling Champion and guest on our Wingpassion Podcast, Episode 18, has discovered Hamburg as the perfect city to explore on his foil. Equipped with his Strider and Amp Combo, he embarked on a sunny City Foiling tour. This tour took him through various scenes, from luxurious villas to lush canals, and included highlights such as graffiti-covered walls, a picturesque burger restaurant, and the famous Pump Dock near Café AlsterCliff.
The adventure continued from the lake-like Alster to the salty Elbe, passing iconic landmarks such as the Elbphilharmonie and the historic Speicherstadt. Each area offered a unique experience, from freestyle shots at the Pump Dock to gliding through the historic architecture of the Speicherstadt.
Unique Perspective on Hamburg
Despite the physical challenges, the tour offered a unique and unforgettable perspective on Hamburg and its landmarks. It showcased the versatility and appeal of City Foiling by combining the energy of the city with the tranquility of the water.
Benjamin May summarizes his experience: “Pump Foiling in the city of Hamburg was an exciting adventure that brings the thrill of water sports right into the heart of our urban landscape.
