The FreeWing Air V4 review. THE all-rounder and is now being tested here.

FreeWing Air V4 review. The FreeWing Mit V4 is an all-rounder for all wingfoil enthusiasts. We have tested the FreeWing Air V4 and would like to introduce it to you here. First of all, a few pictures with the technical information about the wing, which we tested in 5 square meters. The all-rounder is available from 2.5 to 8 m² and comes with a carbon boom as standard.

the cloth

The new Ultra X Canopy consists of an ultra-light 3-layer laminate that is 4 times more durable than conventional woven canopies. A woven base layer, reinforced by an ultra-light PE mesh, carries the main load, while the layers are connected by a stretchable 0.25 mm film. This construction ensures durability without adding weight. FreeWing Air V4 review.

Carbon boom as standard

The AIR V4 comes with the new one-piece Pre-Preg Carbon Boom as standard and features the innovative Modular Handle System. You can retrofit grips or handles. We were very happy with the boom.

Leading Edge

The leading edge of the wing consists of a two-stage construction with high-strength Dacron. The middle segments are made from new HD 260 Dacron, while the outer sections are made from 160g high-tenacity Dacron. This combination should ensure optimum stability and resilience. Modular front handle

The new front grip offers generous space and uses the proven Firm-Flex Grip Handle technology to ensure maximum stiffness, responsiveness and optimum control. For wave riding and downwinding sessions, the handle can be replaced with an Alu-Ultra Grip. I found downwinding with the standard grip totally ok.

Center strut connection

The tapered center strut has a wide and strong connection at the base, which makes the entire air frame stiffer. This leads to more efficient pumping and improves both acceleration and top speed.

The valves

A valve for inflation on the front tube and an “air mattress” valve on the middle tube for deflation.

on the water

The handling with the Carbon Boom is the biggest difference to its predecessor. As a former windsurfer, it really picks me up. The maneuvers are easier. The Freewing Air V4 is a great all-rounder for beginners and experts who take to the water in different conditions and skill levels. Cruising, freestyle and downwinding are all possible with the Wing.
