Vayu Eos 2 Wing – Review

We were able to test the new Vayu EOS 2 in the sizes 3.0 m² to 4.5 m². The EOS 2 can now also be equipped with the innovative Click-Boom.

The Wing is designed to cover the freestyle and freeride sector. It is available in seven sizes from 3.0 m² to 6.0 m².

On land: innovation in the Vayu EOS 2

The front tube of the Vayu EOS 2 has also been redesigned in terms of material and, like the Aura 3, now consists of three different components. The latest ultra-light Aluula version (Aeris-X FX-86) is used for the front handle, followed by high-quality Dacron material (DKC-160). Its tips are made of proven material. This combination of materials together with the strongly tapered tips ensures that excess wind pressure is efficiently dissipated.

The cloth also consists of two different materials. Teijin D2 is used in the area up to the windows, while Teijin D5 is sewn further down. Philip Horn explained to us at the Foil Festival 2025 that this should give the profile a little more stretch in the front area. The profile of the cloth stands on its own without the wind having to come in.

In the front tube area, the cloth is initially around 15 cm away from the middlestrut before this distance decreases further and further towards the back. In the last third, the cloth touches the middlestrut completely. Overall, the cloth is taut over the entire wing. There are now three stabilizers on each side of the trailing edge, which further optimize performance.

The side profile of the EOS 2 has a slight V, while its outline is more compact and less elongated than that of the Vayu Aura 3.

New windows

As with all Vayu Wings, the EOS 2 has a large, elongated window on both sides of the front section. The windows are now made of the new Dimension-Polyant X-Ply for a better view.

For optimized handling, the middlestrut has been provided with “kinks” at the height of the handles to create more space for the hands. The last third of the middlestrut bends gently inwards.

The scope of delivery includes both loops and handles.

Click-Boom: flexibility and easy assembly

The click-boom is available separately, but fits all sizes from 3.0 m² to 5.5 m². The handles can be easily removed using the Allen key supplied. Its front click mechanism is attached to the bracket of the front handle, while the other open threads are fitted with plastic covers.

Installation is extremely simple: the boom is inserted into the mounting with a click. It can be removed just as easily by pressing on the side of the bracket.

It is inflated via two SUP valves on the front tube and on the middlestrut. Both air chambers are connected to each other with a small hose.

Practical bag with well thought-out features

The bag supplied is designed as a comfortable backpack and has reinforced carrying straps with a special groove – perfect for storing the foil during transportation. There is a fastening option for the pump on the side. In addition, the backpack can be extended via a zipper at the bottom so that the wing can also be stowed away easily with the boom fitted.

On the water with the Vayu EOS

The Vayu EOS 2 impresses with its power right from the start, despite its flat and streamlined design. Its slim profile and narrow tips allow it to pick up a few extra knots in the upper wind range and extend its wind range. Even in strong winds, it remains surprisingly stable and effortlessly converts the extra energy into propulsion. In contrast to its predecessor, the EOS 2 now has the ability to release excess wind pressure, which further improves handling.

When going upwind, it can be steered almost directly into the wind.

The exceptional maneuverability of the EOS 2 is particularly noteworthy: when jibing and tacking, it effortlessly lies into the wind without rearing up. It adopts the new direction without resistance and only requires a gentle impulse from the rider. It feels intuitive and effortless.

In the neutral position, it follows you nicely and can therefore also be used well in waves.

In the air, the Vayu EOS 2 proves to be a reliable wing and helps the rider to get even higher. Even when jumping 360s, its smooth turning behavior is maintained. It also remains pleasantly neutral and easy to control when riding backwards.

The new window material proves to be the right choice. Reflections are virtually non-existent and you get a full view.

Conclusion

The Vayu EOS 2 has lost none of its playful ease and performance and has been improved in several areas. The freestyle and freeride characteristics are simply outstanding. It therefore remains at the top of our list of personal favorites.

It should also be fun for beginners and intermediates. Its compact span and precisely adjustable power make it particularly accessible.

Unfortunately, we can’t think of anything to criticize. If you wanted to, you could perhaps criticize the extra cost of a boom.
